November 2019: PARASOL PROJECT 2019 - ART FOR HEALTH - Myanmar Artists - Group Exhibition

Parasol Project 2019 - ART FOR HEALTH

November 30th - December 1st

River Gallery supported the 2019 Parasol Project, which was conceived as a way to support and promote both the wonderful Yangon artists and help get better healthcare directly to the people of Myanmar. Supporting traditional Burmese crafts and challenging the artists to work on an innovative canvas, we used the Pathein Hti, a highly recognized symbol of Myanmar traditional craftwork to create one of a kind artwork.

This was their fifth Parasol Project to benefit “Thway Thit” also known as “Better Burmese Health Care” which is a small non-profit healthcare organization delivering affordable diabetes care and other common non-communicable diseases. Thway Thit is committed to providing not only quality care but also training and learning opportunities for the staff physicians setting up a sustainable model helping poor local communities by local capacity building.

The Parasols and other artwork was sold on silent auction at River Gallery (November 30 - December 1). The proceeds was divided equally between the artists and Thway Thit. 37 artists participated in Parasol Project 2019.
